“Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein feels like a tribute to Shah Rukh Khan’s fearless spirit,” says Tahir Raj Bhasin

“Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein feels like a tribute to Shah Rukh Khan’s fearless spirit,” says Tahir Raj Bhasin

Versatile actor Tahir Raj Bhasin is a die-hard fan of megastar Shah Rukh Khan, his web series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (YKKA) takes its title from one of SRK’s biggest chartbusters, ‘Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhen’, from the runaway blockbuster Baazigar. It’s a delightful coincidence that the show shares its name with a memorable hit from SRK’s iconic film.

Tahir Raj Bhasin said “Shah Rukh Khan’s career-defining roles in Baazigar and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa were not just performances they were a masterclass in embracing the complexity of the anti-hero. As a die-hard fan of the superstar, I have always admired SRK not just as an actor but as an outsider who rose to the top through sheer talent and determination. His journey has been a constant source of inspiration and courage for me, showing that no dream is too big, and no journey is tough. Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, with its high-stakes drama, unapologetic sensationalism, and raw energy, feels like a tribute to the very fearless spirit SRK brought to roles like those in Baazigar and Darr. “

He added “His portrayal of the brooding, conflicted anti-hero was flawed and didn’t always know his way out of a situation has influenced not just me, but an entire generation of storytellers, shaping how we see heroes in cinema. In Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, my character is an ode to that 90’s hero – the one who lived on the edge, where the line between good and bad was always blurred. My inspiration for Vikrant is drawn heavily from SRK’s iconic anti-heroes, those roles that made us question, empathize, and sometimes even cheer for the dark side. The character’s complexity, his struggle, his passion, and his defiance — all of it reflects that unapologetic energy, the very essence of the superstar I idolize. Vikrant’s journey in the show references the same boldness, intensity, and ambiguity that SRK injected into his iconic roles.”

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 continues to captivate audiences with its gripping blend of crime, love, obsession, and murder, while further deepening the complexities of its characters. The show’s ability to explore these dark themes with such raw intensity makes it a standout in the crime thriller genre, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

Netflix announces Black Warrant: Prison drama by Sacred Games’ creator Vikramaditya Motwane

Netflix announces Black Warrant: Prison drama by Sacred Games’ creator Vikramaditya Motwane

Behind the high walls of Asia’s largest prison – Tihar Jail, a novice jailer uncovers the untold stories and moral dilemmas that lie within. This sets the scene for Black Warrant, a first-of-its-kind prison drama that marks Vikramaditya Motwane’s return to long-form storytelling on Netflix following the success of Sacred Games and CTRL. Presented by Applause Entertainment, an Andolan Production in association with Confluence Media, the series is a dramatised book adaptation of Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury’s Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer.

Set in the 1980s, Black Warrant is a fictionalised retelling of certain true events told from the perspective of Sunil Gupta, a timid rookie jailer at Tihar Jail, as he confronts the brutal realities, high-profile cases and complex power dynamics within Tihar’s walls.

Vikramaditya Motwane reflects, “Black Warrant is a book that is raw, intense, and authentic and immediately demands to be brought to life. Collaborating with Netflix, Applause Entertainment, and Confluence has been incredible, and I’m grateful to have had partners who have supported me and the team in telling this story the way it deserves to be told.”

Sameer Nair, Managing Director of Applause Entertainment, expressed his excitement: “Black Warrant delves into the untold contemporary history of Tihar Jail—a world rarely explored with such depth and authenticity. Collaborating with a visionary like Vikramaditya Motwane has brought a unique perspective, infusing the story with both nuance and realism. Partnering with Netflix allows us to share this powerful and resonant tale with a global audience, offering a rare glimpse into a hidden world that leaves a lasting impact.”

Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, said, “We are so excited to start 2025 with something completely fresh, distinctive, and truly in signature Netflix style. True crime is a genre our members can’t get enough of. Behind this defining series is Vikramaditya Motawane who also created our maiden series Sacred Games. We’re thrilled to rekindle this successful partnership again for Black Warrant, with Vikram, Applause, Andolan & Confluence media. Black Warrant is a defining show in the landscape of crime and Vikram’s craft brings to life a tone and telling that captures the many firsts of this story with utmost flair. It is India’s first prison drama, based on a recount of India’s longest-tenured jailer and a story that is an absolute must-watch!”

Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that his hit film Brahmastra is planned as a three-part franchise. Speaking to Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival, the actor shared an update on the sequel, Brahmastra 2. He revealed that the team is currently developing the script for the film.

Speaking about the project, he said, “Part 2 is in the writing stage. “Part one was called ‘Shiva.’ Part two is called ‘Dev.’ We haven’t really announced the cast yet. That’s something very exciting also. It’s directed by one of my closest friend Ayan. I worked on two films with him before this, that’s, Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra. So definitely it was one of the first few films of that nature, especially for Indian Cinema. But it has potential to really really grow more in the coming parts,” said Ranbir.
