Srikanth’s ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ song launch: “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was a MILESTONE. It changed the whole sensibility of Indian cinema” – Aamir Khan

The recreated version of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’s (1988) song ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ was launched at a lovely event in an auditorium in Mumbai on Monday, April 22. Aamir Khan, who featured in the original version and Udit Narayan, who sung both the versions, graced their presence along with Srikanth’s team members, that is, actors Rajkummar Rao, Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar, director Tushar Hiranandani, producer Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani and Srikanth Bolla, on whom the film is based on. The event began with talented visually impaired people performing on ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ and also the other famous song of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, ‘Aye Mere Humsafar’.

At the event, Aamir Khan and Udit Narayan went down memory lane. Aamir revealed, “It’s the song that started my career. Certainly, it’s very special. All of us were very new in the film and Nasir saab (Nasir Hussain) supported us. It was also the first film of director Mansoor Khan and cinematographer Kiran Deohans. Anand-Milind, Juhi, Udit ji, Alka ji apna career bas shuru hi kar rahe the. Even the sound recordist and editor debuted with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Hence, it was a very exciting journey.”

He added, “Then, we had no idea whether or not we’d be successful. Whenever Mansoor and I used to watch the film, humko khamiyaan nazar aati thi! So, we used to keep discussing it that ‘Yaar, woh scene aisa hona chahiye tha’ or ‘isme yeh reh gaya’!”

Aamir Khan then stated, “Ek din woh film release ho gayi aur hamare haath se nikal gayi (smiles). And it was very exciting to see the kind of love it got. I’d like to believe that Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was a milestone in Indian cinema. It changed the whole sensibility of Indian cinema. From 1988, you can see the shift happening. Mansoor was the first director to bring that change. Hence, it’s a very special film for me in every way.”

Udit Narayan, in his trademark style, exulted, “Main 36 saal purani yaadon mein chala gaya. I can’t believe that after 36 years, this song continues to hold a place in your hearts!”

He continued, “I still remember when I had gone to record the song. Aamir saab was sitting in front of me. I was told, ‘Iss hero ke liye aapko gaana hai’. Main dara hua tha. I asked myself, ‘What if I don’t sing it well?’. Mera boriya bistar bhi ready tha gaav jaane ke liye!”

Aamir Khan, at this point, raised laughs, “Aur mujh dekh ke toh khaas unko darr hua ki ‘Accha, yeh hero hai’. Fir toh confirm hai mera waapis jaana!”

Udit Narayan continued, “But thanks to God and all your blessings, the song became a rage!”

Srikanth releases in cinemas on May 10.

The recreated version of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’s (1988) song ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ was launched at a lovely event in an auditorium in Mumbai on Monday, April 22. The event began with talented visually impaired people performing on ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ and also the other famous song of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, ‘Aye Mere Humsafar’.

Aamir Khan on stage spoke highly of the Rajkummar Rao-starrer, “When I saw Srikanth’s trailer, I was left amazed. I immediately connected with the character of Srikanth. I want to experience his journey. Hence, I am also keenly waiting for its release on May 10. It seems like a very inspiring film. Rajkummar Rao has given a wonderful performance. From the trailer, it’s clear that he has got into the skin of the character. He has lived the role of Srikanth.”

At this point, Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani added, “This song will always be of Aamir sir and Udit sir. We are just passing it on to the next generation!”

Aamir Khan also remembered Gulshan Kumar, father of Bhushan Kumar, who’s also one of the producers of Srikanth, “Bhushan ne sach mein papa ka naam roshan kiya hai. He took over the business at a very young age after Gulshan ji sadly passed away. As a son, he has really taken the business forward and also the music industry forward. He has grown it and given so many opportunities to several young musicians. That is really amazing. Hence, we should clap for Bhushan as well.”

Rajkummar Rao revealed how life has come full circle for him, “After passing Class 12, I used to study theatre. I used to travel on a bicycle 70 km from Gurgaon to Delhi and back. This is when I used to listen to some songs on my Walkman. The one song that used to hit me a lot was ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ (smiles). I used to hear the song to motivate myself ki mujhe bhi bada naam karna hai. And now to have that song picturized on me in Srikanth is a surreal feeling.”

He continued, “We all have taken a lot of inspiration from Aamir sir. It’s his badappan that he’s here to launch the song. He’s somebody who promotes good content. Thank you sir for teaching us everything!”

Amitabh Bachchan purchases 10,000 sq. ft. land in Alibaug for Rs. 10 crores

Amitabh Bachchan has made a significant investment in real estate by purchasing a 10,000 square foot plot of land in Alibaug, Maharashtra, near Mumbai. This acquisition took place in the A Alibaug project, a sprawling 20-acre plotted development launched in April last year. The transaction, reportedly valued at Rs. 10 crore, was completed with The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) and as per sources, it was officially registered just last week.

Although there has been no official statement issued from The House of Abhinadan Lodha or from Amitabh Bachchan, sources have reportedly confirmed the details to the media. This is not the first time where Amitabh has been investing with the builders. In the past, the legendary actor also made a similar investment with the HoABL brand in their ‘The Sarayu’ project in Ayodhya. Big B is expected to have made a sizeable investment in this luxurious seven-star project which is currently under development in the picturesque city of Lord Ram.

As for Alibaug, the beachy town is known for its scenic beauty and proximity to Mumbai and has become a sought-after destination for both vacation homes and real estate investments. It seems to have caught the attention of many other celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, who also purchased a massive piece of farm-land worth Rs. 9.5 crores along with his daughter Suhana Khan in February 2024.

On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchan too boasts of extensive investments within the city limits of Mumbai which includes three major bungalows in the plush area of suburban Mumbai – namely Pratiksha and Jalsa, wherein the former was reportedly gifted to Shweta Bachchan recently, and along with them, he also has Janak which is said to be used more as an office. Apart from them, the superstar is also expected to hold quite a bit of properties in Delhi and a few other locations.
