Sumeet Vyas SLAMS Sony Electronics over faulty Bravia TV after multiple repairs; calls it “absolute breach of trust”

Actor Sumeet Vyas took to social media to express his frustration with Sony Electronics after his expensive Sony Bravia LED TV experienced multiple issues within just five months of purchase.

Vyas shared his grievance in a tweet directed at the electronics brand and the retailer from whom he bought the TV, Croma Retail. In his tweet, the actor explained that despite purchasing the television with high expectations, it had already required four repairs. “Dear @SonyElectronics, I bought a Sony Bravia LED TV 5 months ago, we’ve already repaired it 4 times. I bought it from @cromaretail because it’s a very expensive TV and I wanted someone answerable in case of a problem. Needless to say it’s been a rather exhausting experience,” Vyas wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Vyas tagged Jago Grahak Jago, the consumer rights initiative, urging them to intervene and address the ongoing issue. He expressed that he had been patient with the repairs but had now reached the end of his tolerance. “Please @jagograhakjago look into the matter. I patiently waited as long as I could. But this is absolute breach of trust. They can take this TV back and send one that works. That’s all. Thank you,” he added.

EXCLUSIVE: Producer Tutu Sharma confirms that Anurag Kashyap’s CONTROVERSIAL directorial debut Paanch to FINALLY release in cinemas in 2025

EXCLUSIVE: Producer Tutu Sharma confirms that Anurag Kashyap’s CONTROVERSIAL directorial debut Paanch to FINALLY release in cinemas in 2025

Anurag Kashyap brought in a new wave of cinema and earned a sizable fan following due to his films like Black Friday (2007), No Smoking (2007), Dev D (2009), Gulaal (2009), Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012) etc. Sadly, his debut directorial Paanch never saw the light of day. The film faced objections from the Central Board of Film Certification and faced numerous other challenges. But now, all those waiting to see Paanch for more than two decades, have a reason to rejoice. The dark thriller is all set to release in the first half of 2025.

Producer Tutu Sharma confirmed this development during an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama. He has ventured into the exhibition sector with the cinema chain Citara. When asked about his upcoming films, he said, “I am working on a couple of subjects, including the biopic of Madhubala. I have the rights to the book (‘Madhubala: Dard Ka Rishta’ by Sushila Kumari). There are some other scripts in the pipeline as well.”

2024 is the year of re-releases and also old films, stuck for years, finally getting their due, as it happened with Ajay Devgn-starrer Naam recently. When asked if Paanch, produced by him, can ever get a release in cinemas, Tutu Sharma said, “Paanch is definitely coming next year. I plan to release it in cinemas within six months. The film was banned and the negatives have slightly deteriorated. The process of restoring them has already started. As soon as it’s ready, we’ll release Paanch.”

When asked about the CBFC issues, he replied, “The issues were resolved. But then we faced some more challenges and hence, the film was lying on the cans. Also, the trend of re-runs is here now. So, one can imagine the potential of Paanch. That’s a very encouraging sign. Also, the times are such that such films are being watched and they have an audience.”

Paanch is expected to have one of the best performances by Kay Kay Menon, as per those who have seen it. Tutu Sharma added, “Not just Kay Kay Menon but even Tejaswini Kolhapure is brilliant in the film. According to me, it is Anurag Kashyap’s best film to date. Many people believe that. You’ll agree with me once you see it (smiles).”

Paanch also stars Aditya Srivastava, Vijay Maurya, Joy Fernandes, Sharat Saxena and Vijay Raaz. The music of the film is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Pune concert goes dry after alcohol permit revoked

Diljit Dosanjh’s Pune concert goes dry after alcohol permit revoked

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s much-anticipated concert in Pune faced a significant hiccup when the Maharashtra excise department revoked the permit for serving alcohol at the event. Held at Kakade Farms in Kothrud on Sunday, the decision followed objections raised by local political leaders and residents concerning the sale of liquor, noise pollution, and traffic congestion.

Alcohol Permit Revoked Amid Protests

The controversy began when Kothrud’s newly elected BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) MLA, Chandrakant Patil, and other community members expressed concerns over the event’s impact on public peace and order. Addressing these objections, state excise commissioner Charan Singh Rajput announced, “A team from the excise department submitted a report to the superintendent’s office in this regard. Taking note of the relevant report and Kakade’s letter, permission for the sale of liquor at the venue has been denied.”

Suryakant Kakade, the owner of Kakade Farms, also submitted a letter to the excise department, requesting the cancellation of the permit.

Local Leaders Voice Concerns

Calling the event a “social menace,” Chandrakant Patil criticized not only the plans to serve alcohol but also the broader implications of such large-scale events. He stated, “My opposition is not only aimed at the sale of liquor at the event but also at the traffic congestion and excessive noise that such an event would cause. Events like this lead to traffic jams and cause sound pollution, which disturbs peace and environmental harmony in society.”

Similarly, former Kasba MLA Ravindra Dhangekar highlighted the logistical challenges posed by the concert. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “No parking arrangements for nearly 40,000 persons attending the event at the venue which is adjoining the residential neighborhood have been made. This will cause untold suffering to the area residents. The administration and concerned officials responsible for giving permission and allowing the event to take place will be responsible for any untoward incident.”
