Murad Khetani’s Cine 1 Studios Private Limited appoints Akanksha Malhotra as CEO

Producer Murad Khetani, who is known for delivering some of the biggest theatrical blockbusters in Hindi cinema like Kabir Singh, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Animal, has appointed Akanksha Malhotra as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cine 1 Studios Private Limited.

Akanksha has over 14 years of experience in the movie industry and incidentally, had worked with Cine1 Studios on the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. She was also Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor’s agent from 2010-2019, scouting & servicing projects like Padmaavat, Kabir Singh, Udta Punjab for him. Prior to joining Cine 1 as CEO, Akanksha had a successful stint with YRF Talent where she headed films strategy for artists and lead strategic relationships between artists and studios, producers and platforms to also package projects for its actors.

Welcoming Akanksha as the CEO, Murad said, “Movie-making is a dynamic process and Cine 1 Studios has been trying to push the envelope for the past few years to make and deliver films that give people a wholesome theatrical experience. We are excited to welcome Akanksha Malhotra as the CEO and we feel her expertise and skillset is a perfect match for us. Akanksha will be responsible for taking Cine 1 Studios to its next exciting chapter and we are confident of her to add tremendous value to our vision for the future.”

Cine 1 Studios upcoming releases include Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 which is slated for release this Diwali and Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John which will hit cinemas in December.

The recent assassination of Baba Siddique has sent shock waves in the country and among the few who are extremely affected by this news is the Khan family. Not only did the Khan family share a close friendship with the respected political figure of Mumbai but with Lawrence Bishnoi claiming to be behind this attack, the security for Salman Khan and his family have been beefed up. Meanwhile, Salman Khan and his family are also trying to recoup from this loss since they shared a familial bond with Siddique and his family too.

Not just Salman Khan, but many Bollywood celebrities share a close bond with Baba Siddique and most of them attended the last rites of the political personality. Meanwhile, Salman Khan was visibly affected by the attack and demise of Siddique and the actor was seen getting emotional on several occasions. Speaking about the loss for Khan family, followed by reports of Lawrence Bishnoi continuing to issue threats against Salman Khan and family, Arbaaz Khan told Zoom, “We are doing fine. I wouldn’t say that we are doing absolutely alright because there is a lot happening right now, in the family. Of course, everyone is worried.”

However, he also assured concerned fans that they are receiving a lot of help from Mumbai police and government to ensure complete security for their family. Arbaaz continued, “I wouldn’t say we are all okay right now, but we are trying to do what we can do the best. We are ensuring that everybody, along with the government and the police, is making sure that things go the way they should, and he’s protected. Everyone is doing their best. We want to stay this way right no.”

For the unversed, Lawrence Bishnoi, a renowned gangster has been issuing several threats to Salman Khan and his family ever since the actor was accused in the 1998 blackbuck killing case.

Rakul Preet Singh drops health update as she recovers from a major injury; says, “I did something stupid”

Just a day ago, Rakul Preet Singh left her fans concerned when news reports suggested that the actress has suffered a major back injury when she was trying to lift weights which further aggravated when she continued to work out. The actress is expected to have pushed herself a bit too far which has now resulted in bed rest. On Wednesday, as the news about her major injury went viral, the actress took to social media to assure her fans about her recovery and along with that, she also urged her fans about taking of their health.

Rakul Preet Singh took to her Instagram story to share a video dropping an update about her health and also opened up about the lesson she learnt through all of this. She shared, “Well here’s a little health update. I did something very stupid. I didn’t listen to my body. I had a spasm, kept pushing it, turned into a major injury and I have been in bed for the last six days and I think it will take another week or so for me to fully recover.” “I really hope I recover faster than that because it’s not easy for me to give in and rest but it’s a lesson learnt that please listen to your body when it gives you signals. Don’t try to push. I thought that my mind was stronger than my body and it doesn’t always work like that.”, she added. She signed off by concluding, “Thank you so much for all your wishes for people who messaged me and I will bounce back stronger. Lots of love.”

While Rakul Preet Singh always puts her work first, this one seems to have left her with an important message.

On the work front, Rakul was currently expected to focus on De De Pyaar De 2 in which she will reprise the role of the chirpy, carefree Ayesha Khurana. The film will not only mark the return of Ajay Devgn as the lovestruck Ashish Mehra along with R Madhavan also joining this romantic comedy in a key role.

The USA elections, as expected, have become a talking point across the world. The country goes for polls in less than 3 weeks, on November 5, and hence, the cacophony is growing louder as the D-Day comes near. In this election season, a Hollywood film named The Apprentice has released and it has grabbed the headlines as it is based on the younger days of Donald Trump, the controversial Republican presidential nominee. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 18 in India but looks like its release may get delayed.

A special screening of the film was held for the press and select moviegoers at a multiplex in Mumbai on Wednesday, October 16, where the host announced that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for certain cuts. The makers learned about it and have refused to accept the modifications.

It now remains to be seen if the makers and CBFC are able to reach a consensus. If it happens today or tomorrow, The Apprentice will be released on Friday, October 18, as planned. Or else the host announced at the screening that the period flick will arrive in cinemas next Friday, October 25.

Despite the release date not being fixed, the uncut and uncensored version of The Apprentice was shown to the press and select moviegoers at the special screening. The author was present at the show and knowing how the CBFC works, it is pretty clear that they must have asked explicit sex scenes to be axed from the film. However, a few of them are crucial to the film’s plot and hence, can’t be censored.

Acclaimed director Hansal Mehta presented the film at the screening and raised laughs with his comments on Donald Trump.

The Apprentice stars Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn and is about the former’s rise in the real estate sector and also his relation with his lawyer, played by the latter. Maria Bakalova essays the role of Ivana Trump. Directed by Ali Abbasi, The Apprentice premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Shah Rukh Khan to play assassin in King: Report

The much-talked about ambitious project of Sujoy Ghosh titled King, starring Shah Rukh Khan and marking the first theatrical appearance of the father-daughter duo along with Suhana Khan playing a key role. With every update on the film garnering attention from fans, the latest one will definitely have them excited. Giving a sneak peek of SRK’s character, reports have suggested that the actor will play the sleek role of an assassin.

Sujoy Ghosh, who is known for mysterious thrillers, is quite excited about directing this larger-than-life drama which not only promises ample of suspense and mystery elements but will also feature extensive high-octane action. Meanwhile, the new revelation about Shah Rukh Khan playing an assassin was made by writer Rahul Raut on Twitter aka X. While we hear that the film will see the actor perform action like his characters in Jawan and Pathaan, on the other hand, fans of the megastar will be thrilled to see the actor reprise ‘the baddie’ like he did in the 90s with films like Baazigar, Anjaam, and Darr.

This news about the actor’s return to a grey shaded role has not only sparked excitement but it also made an older comment that the superstar made during the Locarno Film Festival in August 2024 viral. During the event Locarno Meets which was also attended by Khan, SRK had addressed the subject of playing a baddie wherein he had said, “I think I have a new way of playing a bad guy”. The comment seems to have gained more momentum after the recent buzz about him returning to such kind of roles with King.

Coming to King, the film is expected to feature an ensemble cast wherein Abhishek Bachchan will play the real antagonist. Along with Suhana Khan, it will also star Munjya fame actor Abhay Verma in a key role.

Radhika Apte, who has not been quite active on social media for a while, surprised her fans with her latest pictures from the premiere night of Sister Midnight in United Kingdom. While her beloved admirers are excited to see the actress take on another intriguing character in this gender bending comedy, they were merely left surprised when the actress made an appearance with a massive baby bump. While the actress too dropped pictures from the special evening, she refrained from talking about her motherhood journey.

Radhika Apte is currently in the UK as her film Sister Midnight premiered in the country on October 16. On Wednesday, the actress took to her official Instagram handle where she shared photos with the entire team as she looked excited to welcome her film and along with the pictures, she also shared a series of pictures from her red carpet appearances wherein she is seen wearing an all-black bodyfit off shoulder gown and showed off her baby bump. She wrote, “SISTER MIDNIGHT UK Premier #lff2024” and tagged the entire team of the film but did not mention about the pregnancy.

Speaking about her film Sister Midnight, the film, directed by Karan Kandhari, revolves around a frustrated and misanthropic newlywed couple wherein the meek husband discovers certain feral impulses of his wife that often land them in unlikely situations. Apart from this, Radhika is also expected to collaborate with YRF for a revenge thriller web-series Akka co-starring Keerthy Suresh.
