Nawazuddin Siddiqui to play villain in Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna starrer horror comedy titled Thamba: Report

Nawazuddin Siddiqui to play villain in Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna starrer horror comedy titled Thamba: Report

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to add another intriguing character to his repertoire as he joins Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in Thamba, a vampire comedy directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. The film marks another chapter in producer Dinesh Vijan’s growing horror-comedy universe, a genre the filmmaker has been exploring since the success of Stree (2018).

Siddiqui, who has previously excelled in negative roles in films such as Badlapur (2015) and Kick (2014), will play the antagonist in Thamba. However, this character is different from his past portrayals as he steps into a quirky, menacing role within the context of a horror comedy. A report by Mid-Day quoted a source saying, “Thamba is set across two timelines—one in a present-day North Indian city and the other during the Vijayanagara Empire. Siddiqui’s character, a violent figure from the past, travels to the present to seek revenge and manipulate the destinies of the two protagonists.”
Thamba: A Unique Horror Comedy
The project, previously titled Vampires of Vijay Nagar, has been rechristened Thamba, and the production is moving at a swift pace. Both lead actors, Khurrana and Mandanna, are gearing up for their roles. Mandanna’s look test was conducted in September. Director Aditya Sarpotdar plans to begin shooting by late November or early December, kicking off with a two-week night schedule in Mumbai.

Production designers Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty are constructing a grand set replicating the ancient Vijayanagara Empire for the film’s early sequences. Following the Mumbai schedule, the team will head to Delhi in January, and the final leg of the shoot will take place in South India.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Unique Role
Siddiqui’s addition brings further excitement to the project, with his knack for playing complex characters. A source shared, “The actor is eager to bring his own interpretation to this eccentric yet violent character from centuries ago.” The actor will undergo a look test after Diwali to finalise his appearance for the film.

For the unversed, Maddock’s horror-comedy universe features Stree, Stree 2, and Bhediya. Thamba is expected to be the latest addition to the franchise.

Salman Khan offered ‘Blank Cheque’ for case settlements after Blackbuck killing to Bishnoi’s; says Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin

Salman Khan offered ‘Blank Cheque’ for case settlements after Blackbuck killing to Bishnoi’s; says Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin

The conflict between gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and actor Salman Khan is escalating. Recently, Lawrence issued another threat to Salman, following several previous ones. This feud stems from Salman’s supposed role in the 1998 killing of a blackbuck, an animal revered by the Bishnoi community. While Salman has denied these allegations, Lawrence’s cousin has alleged that the actor attempted to resolve the issue years ago by offering a ‘blank cheque.’

In a recent NDTV interview, Ramesh Bishnoi, the cousin of incarcerated gangster Lawrence, discussed the ongoing feud between Lawrence and Salman Khan. He asserted that following the uproar over the blackbuck case and the Bishnoi community’s condemnation of Salman, the actor offered them financial compensation. Ramesh claimed that Salman came with a blank chequebook, inviting community leaders to write any amount they desired to settle the issue. “If we were motivated by money, we would have accepted it,” Ramesh stated.

In response to Salim Khan’s claim that Lawrence is targeting Salman for financial reasons, Ramesh emphasized that the conflict is rooted in ideology rather than money. “Hamara khoon khol raha tha uss waqt (Our blood was boiling at that time),” Ramesh stated. He further noted that Lawrence owns 110 acres of land in India and is financially stable enough not to engage in extortion.

The blackbuck poaching incident occurred in Jodhpur in 1998 while Salman Khan was filming Hum Saath Saath Hain, alongside co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari. This case has persisted for 25 years, and Salman is currently out on bail after being convicted. The Bishnoi community, which regards the blackbuck as sacred, has repeatedly demanded an apology from Salman for his actions. Recently, in an interview with ABP, Salim Khan, Salman’s father, stated that an apology is out of the question, as it would imply that Salman is admitting guilt.

Kiara Advani to lead standalone supernatural comedy tentatively titled Devi backed by Stree makers: Report

Kiara Advani to lead standalone supernatural comedy tentatively titled Devi backed by Stree makers: Report

Actress Kiara Advani is set to expand her cinematic repertoire by exploring a new genre. According to a new report, Advani is currently in discussion with producer Dinesh Vijan for a standalone supernatural comedy tentatively titled Devi. This film, in which Advani would play the titular role, is intended to initiate a unique franchise in the supernatural comedy space.

A Fresh Take on Supernatural Comedy
The concept for Devi reportedly deviates from the style of the popular Stree Cinematic Universe, also produced by Maddock Films. A report by PinkVilla quoted a source saying, “Devi won’t be part of the Stree Cinematic Universe, but it aims to establish a separate franchise. The flavour will be quite different, offering a unique blend of supernatural elements with a comedic twist.” Vijan, known for hits like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Stree, aims to carve out a fresh path in the supernatural comedy genre with Devi.
Scheduled Production and Kiara’s Line-Up for 2025
The source further shared that Devi is set to go on floors by mid-2025, with a streamlined start-to-finish schedule. “The negotiations are in advanced stages, and once formalised, the official announcement will follow. This could be Kiara’s first film to start production after her ongoing commitments with War 2 and Toxic, which are currently in progress,” the insider confirmed. Advani’s involvement in this project highlights her willingness to diversify her roles and explore a genre that mixes fantasy with humour.

Dinesh Vijan has been experiencing consistent success post-pandemic, with his films resonating well with audiences. His recent releases have performed remarkably well, including Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and Stree. The director-producer now has several upcoming projects like Chavva and Sky Force lined up. Meanwhile, Kiara recently shot for War 2 in Italy.
