The Arjun Kapoor-Bhumi Pednekar starrer The Lady Killer has had a unique journey. Its trailer was quietly dropped on the internet a few days before its release. It hit cinemas on November 3 in very limited screens across the country as a token release. Many couldn’t see it in cinemas and were waiting for it to be out on digital. And the wait is now finally over.

Today, that is, September 2, The Lady Killer started streaming on the YouTube channel of T-Series. And interestingly, it’s available not on rent or pay per view but for free of cost.

Directed by Ajay Bahl, The Lady Killer is the story of a chemist who gets in a mess when he gets involved with a mysterious woman. After the film was out in cinemas, Ajay Bahl revealed in an interview that the thriller was released in cinemas though its shoot was not fully complete.

On the film front, Arjun Kapoor would next be seen in Singham Again as the antagonist Danger Lanka. Bhumi Pednekar, meanwhile, would be seen in two intriguing web shows – Daldal and The Royals.

Kangana Ranaut, known for her outspoken views, took to her X account (formerly Twitter) to condemn the series for what she perceives as a deliberate distortion of historical events. She accused the makers of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack of using politically motivated agendas to twist real-life occurrences.

Kangana wrote, “Law of the land is that one can show unimaginable amount of violence and nudity on OTT platforms without any consequence or censorship, one can even distort real life events to suit their politically motivated sinister motives. There is all the freedom for communists or leftists across the world for such anti-national expressions, but as a nationalist, no OTT platform allows us to make films that revolve around the integrity and unity of Bharat.”

Besides this, ANI recently reported that the I & B Ministry summoned Netflix India’s Head over the portrayal of hijackers.

The anticipation surrounding Salman Khan’s upcoming action entertainer, Sikandar, has reached the fever pitch. Following his rib injury, Salman Khan has resumed the shoot of Sikandar, being helmed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film’s ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, and Prateik Babbar, will also be joining the shoot. Khan is particularly looking forward to the intense action sequences under Murugadoss’s direction.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, the film’s team has recreated Mumbai locales, including Dharavi and Matunga, on a massive set that has reportedly cost a staggering Rs. 15 crores to construct. A 45-day shooting schedule in Mumbai is currently underway, during which Khan will be performing high-octane action sequences. A source revealed, “The makers have spent a fortune to make the sets look authentic. This is a crucial schedule as we’ll be shooting not just action, but also emotional and dramatic scenes.”

Following the Mumbai schedule, the team will relocate to a palace in Hyderabad for the next phase of production. A source stated, “We’re searching for a palace that adds scale and grandeur to the film. The third schedule will take place around November.”

Sikandar is set to release on Eid 2025 release.

Anushka Ranjan is set to produce her first feature film independently, leveraging her family’s deep roots in the entertainment industry.

As the daughter of esteemed producers Anu and Shashi Ranjan, the founders of the prestigious Indian Television Awards, Anushka has grown up surrounded by the magic of cinema and television. Pre-production for her first feature film has begun, with shooting set to start early next year. The project details are still undisclosed.

Anushka shared her excitement about this new venture, stated, “Producing a feature film has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a family that lives and breathes cinema has inspired me to tell stories that matter. This project is very close to my heart, and I am thrilled to bring it to life. A source close to the project has revealed that the film, a horror comedy, will soon be unveiled to the eager audience. The project will be backed by Ektaa R Kapoor.

As per a report in Mid-day, on September 9, Akshay Kumar’s birthday, fans can expect a special treat in the form of a motion poster. This one-minute teaser will not only reveal the much-anticipated title but also offer a glimpse of Kumar’s character. Priyadarshan has been working tirelessly to bring this project to life. According to the source, the director recently visited Mumbai to finalize the motion poster.

Bollywood Hungama had reported that Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are reuniting after 14 years in February of 2024. Back in April 2024, Priyadarshan told Hindustan Times, “Now that I am done with my docu-series on the Ram Mandir’s history, my most important film on which I am beginning work is the one with Akshay, produced by Ekta Kapoor. It is a horror fantasy with humour.”

When asked if it’s like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the filmmaker said, “That was a psychological thriller, but this one will be fantasy, in the backdrop of black magic, the oldest superstition of India. It is always a pleasure collaborating with Akshay. From our first film to this one, it has always turned out well with him, he handles the emotions so well. I was waiting for a good subject to get back with him, and this one I feel will be that.”

While plot details remain under wraps, it is known that Akshay Kumar will be playing a charming character who finds himself entangled in a love triangle with three women. A highly anticipated action drama Mitti starring Sidharth Malhotra has been put on hold indefinitely. In June of this year, reports emerged that Malhotra was teaming up with producer Murad Khetani and director Balwinder Singh Janjua for a gritty action film. South Indian actress Sreeleela was also cast in the film. However, recent developments suggest that Malhotra abruptly exited the film just weeks before production was scheduled to begin.

As per a report in Peeping Moon, the reasons for his departure remain unclear, citing both creative differences with the director and concerns about the script itself. While some sources suggest Malhotra simply wasn’t convinced by the project’s direction, others claim his decision may have been influenced by a desire for more creative control on set. There’s also speculation that the actor’s recent box office struggles may have played a role, potentially making it difficult to secure funding for the film.

Earlier, director Balwinder Singh Janjua had earlier spoken to Bollywood Hungama to offer details about the project’s themes. He described it as an “action drama set in Uttarakhand,” a story that revolves around “guilt, living with the baggage of guilt.” He further elaborated that the film would explore themes of “saving your home and your land, your heritage,” emphasizing the importance of family and relationships.
Rumors are rife that Malhotra might be attached to an upcoming romantic comedy produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Dasvi filmmaker Tushar Jalota. This project, initially slated to begin filming in late 2023, was reportedly delayed due to budgetary concerns. Now, with Malhotra potentially on board, the film appears to be back on track, with filming potentially commencing in the coming months.
The yet-untitled film is expected to be a light-hearted and commercially viable project, a stark contrast to the action drama Malhotra recently departed. While the casting of the female lead hasn’t been officially confirmed, reports suggest that Janhvi Kapoor is in talks for the role.
Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra is also in talks with the makers of Race 4 to join Saif Ali Khan in the new installment.
