It seems both producer Dinesh Vijan and actor Siddharth Malhotra are looking for a change of mood. Vijan has scored big in the comedy-horror space with Stree 2 and Munjya, and Sidharth Malhotra not so big in the action genre.

Sidharth Malhotra is done with action for now. After Yodha, he has quit another action film Mitti and signed a love story with producer Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films. The untitled project to be directed by Tushar Jalota (who directed Abhishek Bachchan in Dasvi) will co-star Janhvi Kapoor.

This is the first time that Malhotra would be teaming up with Janhvi Kapoor, who got encouraging reviews for her two releases this year Mr & Mrs Mahi and Ulajh.

Sidharth Malhotra has lately been going through a rough patch in his career. Hopefully, Janhvi and Malhotra will prove lucky for one another.

Lately, Siddharth Malhotra has not seen much success at the box office. Even his much-anticipated OTT debut Indian Police Force was a bit of a damp squib. If the truth be told, Malhotra’s only bonafide hits so far are his debut film Student Of The Year, Ek Villain and Shershaah. In the latter he co-starred with his future wife Kiara Advani.

Marriage seems to have proven lucky for Kiara. Not only was her first post-marriage release Satyaprem Ki Katha a big hit, but she also signed some of her career’s biggest films, including Don 3 after marriage.

Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios have joined forces to present 120 Bahadur, a film, starring Farhan Akhtar, chronicling the extraordinary tale of Major Shaitan Singh and his Charlie Company soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment. Set against the backdrop of the 1962 Sino-Indian War, 120 Bahadur will delve into the historic Battle of Rezang La.

To pique the audience’s interest, the production houses unveiled two intriguing motion posters. These posters not only introduce the film’s title but also cast a spotlight on the leading actor, Farhan Akhtar. Akhtar is poised to take on the role of Major Shaitan Singh. Farhan wrote, “What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj. Shaitan Singh PVC and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment. Famously known as the Battle of Rezang La, fought on the 18th of November 1962 during the Indo-China war, it is a story of remarkable courage, heroism and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds. We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valour to the screen. We embark today to make this film in all humility and with utmost respect to those we represent.”

The film’s director, Razneesh “Razy” Ghai, is at the helm.  Details surrounding the film’s release date and additional cast members are yet to be revealed.

For unversed, Major Shaitan Singh, PVC, was an Indian Army officer who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration, for his extraordinary bravery during the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Born on December 1, 1924, in Rajasthan, India, Shaitan Singh joined the Jodhpur State Forces after completing his graduation. He was later transferred to the Kumaon Regiment and participated in operations in the Naga Hills and the 1961 Indian annexation of Goa.

During the Sino-Indian War, Major Shaitan Singh commanded a company of an infantry battalion stationed at Rezang La, a strategic pass in the Chushul sector of Ladakh. On November 18, 1962, Chinese forces launched a massive attack on the Indian position at Rezang La, overwhelming them with heavy artillery fire and human waves.

Major Shaitan Singh and his men fought bravely against overwhelming odds, repelling multiple Chinese attacks and inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy. Despite being severely wounded, he continued to lead his men until the last man was standing. He ultimately succumbed to his injuries, but his heroic actions inspired his men and became a symbol of Indian courage and determination. For his extraordinary bravery and leadership, Major Shaitan Singh was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.

As the son of a renowned politician, the late Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh, Riteish Deshmukh made his Bollywood debut with Tujhe Meri Kasam and his co-star in the film was none other than his now wife Genelia Deshmukh, who made her Bollywood debut with this romantic entertainer. The much-loved romantic classic is now all set to return to theatres on September 13, 2024.

Fahadh Faasil, who has made his mark in multiple languages including Tamil and Telugu, is soon expected to be making his Bollywood debut, reveal sources. While buzz about the actor entering the world of Hindi Cinema has been doing the rounds for quite some time now, we now hear that the actor is on the verge of finalizing the project and is in talks with popular filmmaker Imtiaz Ali for the latter’s next after he tasted grand success with the Netflix film Amar Singh Chamkila.

According to Pinkvilla reports, the film is currently in the scripting stage and Imtiaz Ali is busy adding finishing touches to the same. A source was quoted talking about the film in the report who said, “Fahadh and Imtiaz have done several meetings over the last few months, and their energies have aligned in the right way. Both of them prefer to work in the right set up, and are set to team up for the first time. Fahadh is also excited to debut in the Hindi space with a director like Imtiaz.”

It is also being said that if all goes well, the film is expected to go on floors next year in the first half. The source went on to add, “Imtiaz is making a pure love story, and the casting for the female protagonist is underway. He is excited about the subject and feels this is the right time to tell the story. He has gone ahead to pitch the film to Fahadh because he feels that the actor fits the bill and the story calls for his casting.”

Readers would be aware that Fahadh Faasil is currently busy with some of the biggest projects which are in the pipeline for release. It includes the much-awaited Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth in the lead along with Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and others playing key roles along with Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo. He also has the highly-anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule with Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna which will release on December 6.
