John Abraham breaks silence on the failure of Vedaa at the box-office: “There’s regret when your film doesn’t work commercially”

John Abraham is currently facing a series of box office setbacks. Despite his latest film, Vedaa receiving critical acclaim, it failed to resonate with audiences, adding to a string of underperforming ventures. It also clashed with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein at the cinemas.

In an interview with Radio City, Abraham expressed his disappointment but also his unwavering pride in the film. “It’s a brave film to do. I wanted to work with Nikkhil again after Batla House,” he stated. “We’ve told it entertainingly, but there’s no getting around the fact that the subject is heavy. And if people aren’t interested in watching films with heavy subjects, that’s their choice. I respect it. But you have to face the subject at the end of the day.”

Vedaa, directed by Nikkhil Advani, delves into the sensitive topic of rape and its aftermath. The film draws inspiration from several real-life cases, highlighting the pervasive nature of this crime. The film’s commercial failure has left a bitter taste in the actor’s mouth.

Despite the box office disappointment, Abraham remains optimistic about the film’s impact. He emphasized the importance of the message conveyed in Vedaa, stating, “I’m very proud that we made a very good film. This is possibly Nikkhil and my best work together. Often, there’s regret when your film doesn’t work commercially. You feel bad. Usually, it stems from uncertainty about the film itself. But with Vedaa, we’ve got practically everything right. Our cast has performed brilliantly, every department, from cinematography to action, has done well. People will find things to complain about with the screenplay, and that’s fine. We respect everybody’s point of view. But I’m proud we’ve made a good film.” He believes that the film’s subject matter is a crucial one that needs to be addressed, even if it doesn’t resonate with a mass audience.

Abraham’s expressed his satisfaction with the work done by the entire team, from the cinematography to the action sequences. He acknowledged that the screenplay might have received mixed reviews, but he maintained his belief in the film’s quality.

On the work front, John Abraham will next star in Tehran.

CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon responds to Arshad Warsi’s ‘joker’ remark about Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD: “I am sure it was not meant to hurt him as a person”

CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon responds to Arshad Warsi’s ‘joker’ remark about Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD: “I am sure it was not meant to hurt him as a person”

A recent controversy has erupted within the Indian film industry following comments made by actor Arshad Warsi about Prabhas in the sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD. The remarks, which were made during an interview, have sparked outrage and concern among members of the Telugu film industry.

In response to the growing backlash, CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association) president Poonam Dhillon has confirmed receiving a letter from MAA (Movie Artists Association) president Vishnu Manchu regarding the issue. Manchu expressed deep concern over Warsi’s comments, which he deemed disrespectful and harmful to the Telugu film industry.

Poonam Dhillon, in a conversation with Hindustan Times, acknowledged the gravity of the situation and stressed the importance of unity within the film fraternity. While she believes that Warsi’s comments were likely directed towards the character in the film rather than Prabhas himself, she emphasized the need for clarification and resolution.

“It is definitely something that has created a bit of unpleasantness, especially in the Telugu industry,” Dhillon said. “We are also writing to Arshad Warsi and taking his feedback on that.”

Poonam Dhillon further expressed her hope that Warsi would come forward and clarify his statement, addressing any hurt feelings that may have arisen within the Telugu industry. She highlighted Prabhas’ reputation as a well-respected and admired figure in the film industry and suggested that the comments were likely not intended to personally attack him.

“While I do believe that he may not have said it against Prabhas; it may be against the character in the film, I would still like him to clarify and if need be, undo the hurt which he may have caused artistes of the Telugu industry because we are all one industry,” Dhillon stated. “Prabhas is one of the most decent, nice, respected people of the industry and I am sure it was not meant to hurt him as a person.”

Dhillon underscored the interconnectedness of all film industries within India and emphasized the need to avoid any division or conflict arising from such incidents. She expressed her desire to resolve the matter amicably and maintain a harmonious environment for all artists.

“We will let Arshad clarify his stand because I cannot speak for him,” Dhillon said. “I would like to believe that as an actor, he will not make such comments about someone who is so well-respected and loved.”

The controversy began when Warsi, during a chat on the show Unfiltered by Samdish, described Prabhas’ appearance in Kalki 2898 AD as resembling a ‘joker’. The actor was asked to share his opinion on a recent film he had watched and disliked, and he chose to name Kalki 2898 AD. While he praised Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in the film, he expressed his disapproval of Prabhas’ look.

Ajay Devgn to embark on an Indiana Jones-style adventure in Luv Ranjan – Jagan Shakti’s movie; expected to kick off in December 2024: Report

Bollywood star Ajay Devgn is set to embark on a thrilling new journey that will take him to the depths of India’s ancient forests, scaling towering mountains, and delving into the mysteries of hidden caves. In a departure from his usual roles, Devgn will be stepping into the shoes of an intrepid adventurer, much like Harrison Ford’s iconic Indiana Jones. The project, to be produced by filmmaker Luv Ranjan and directed by Jagan Shakti, is currently in development.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the script, still in its early stages, promises a high-octane adventure filled with ancient relics, historical significance, and stunning visual effects. A source close to the production revealed, “The film will be a big-budget undertaking, featuring Ajay Devgn in the lead as a fearless adventurer. The filmmakers are aiming to create a cinematic experience that rivals the Indiana Jones franchise. Ajay is particularly excited about this project as it represents a new genre for him.”
Set against the backdrop of India’s lush forests, Devgn’s character will embark on a perilous quest to uncover an ancient artefact. The story will be steeped in folklore and mythology, blending historical facts with fictional elements. The film is expected to be heavy on visual effects, with filmmakers planning to create a visually stunning world for audiences to explore.
Devgn himself is equally enthusiastic about the project, recognizing its potential to appeal to a younger audience. “It is being designed with children in mind,” the source explained. “The film will feature high-octane action sequences, stunning stunts, and a rugged, Indiana Jones-inspired look for Ajay. He will be portrayed as a knowledgeable individual with expertise in ancient civilizations and languages.”
Once Devgn completes his commitments on Son of Sardar 2 and De De Pyaar De 2, he is expected to begin filming the action-adventure. The film is slated to go on floors by December 2024.

Munjya actor Abhay Verma shares his FIRST reaction after reports emerge that he has bagged Shah Rukh Khan-starrer King: “Honestly, I have never been so nervous in life. I wish I could tell the world that ‘This is happening’…”

Abhay Verma has become a household name after the release Munjya. The actor not only gained a sizable fan following due to his cute looks and acting talent but also has got interesting offers as the horror comedy became a surprise super-hit. A few weeks ago, there were reports that Abhay has bagged a significant role in King, starring none other than Shah Rukh Khan. Days after this news was out, Abhay was asked about it in a podcast session organized by Popdiaries.

Abhay smiled when the host enquired about how he bagged the film. However, he said, “Well, it’s not the right place or rather, the right time to say it.”

When the host prodded him to talk, he replied, “He’s (Shah Rukh Khan) one person I have idolized. I look up to him, not just as an actor but also as a person. Whatever we have heard about the rumours of whatever is going to happen, I hope that happens (smiles).”

Abhay Verma continued, “Honestly, I have never been so nervous in life. I wish I could tell the world that ‘This is happening’, ‘Yeh main kar raha hoon’, etc. I am so sorry but abhi zyada kuch batane ke liye nahin hai.”

He further said, “And I believe in surprises. A lesser known fact is that I didn’t even tell my family that I had bagged Munjya. I informed them 6 months later when I was in the prep mode.”

Besides Shah Rukh Khan and Abhay Verma, King stars the superstar’s daughter Suhana Khan and also Abhishek Bachchan. The action entertainer is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and is expected to go on floors in November this year. The reports claim that Shah Rukh would be seen in a rugged avatar and plays a mentor to Suhana. Abhishek Bachchan, meanwhile, essays the role of an antagonist. There has been no information out yet on Abhay Verma’s role.

Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force to release in January 2025: Report

Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force to release in January 2025: Report

Earlier this month, Bollywood Hungama reported that the promo of Sky Force which was expected to be attached to Stree 2 has not been unveiled. While the teaser launch of the film was postponed, we had also reported that the film’s release itself may be pushed further. Now, the latest update on that front is that the multi-starrer action aerial entertainer starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and others has been pushed to the first half of next year in January.

It was said that Sky Force is set against the backdrop of the much-loved patriotic theme which prompted the makers to lock October 2, that is Gandhi Jayanti, as the date for the film’s release. While it seems that it will not be possible, we hear that the makers are keen on releasing the film in January 2025 and that too around the 76th Republic Day, which falls on January 26. The news has been shared by journalist Rahul Raut on X, earlier known as Twitter. However, there has been no official confirmation issued by the makers.

Meanwhile, in an earlier Bollywood Hungama report, a source from the exhibition sector had opened up about the decision of pushing the release of the film and had said, “The film has been pushed back and will not be hitting theaters on October 2. Akshay Kumar, considering his recent releases and their performance at the box office, is looking to reinvigorate himself before diving further into shooting Sky Force. The makers want some gap between two releases of Akshay Kumar.”

Also, if this turns out to be the case, then first weekend of October is free of any Bollywood releases, paving way to the much-hyped Hollywood entertainer Joker 2 aka Joker: Folie à Deux as a solo release. The film marks the return of the DC supervillain franchise starring Joaquin Phoenix as the leading man and Lady Gaga as the much-loved Harley Quinn.

Speaking of Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force, the film is a war drama directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, the film not only sees the actor reuniting with his Airlift co-star Nimrat Kaur and Atrangi Re co-star Sara Ali Khan but also marks the acting debut of Veer Pahariya.

Kangana Ranaut reveals she rejected Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan; mentions about Ranbir Kapoor ‘pleading’ her to do Sanju

Kangana Ranaut reveals she rejected Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan; mentions about Ranbir Kapoor ‘pleading’ her to do Sanju

Kangana Ranaut has always had the kindest words to share about the Khans in the industry-Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan – as she asserted that they have always been generous and sweet to her. After showering praises on the Ek Tha Tiger actor at the Emergency trailer launch, Ranaut revealed that she continues to share a good bond with him even after rejecting films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan. In the same interaction, she also mentioned how Ranbir Kapoor had once ‘pleaded her’ to do a role in Sanju.

Amid the promotions of Emergency, Kangana Ranaut, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, made some candid statements regarding the movie offers she rejected wherein she revealed that she was offered roles in Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and YRF’s Sultan. The actress said, “Salman offered me a role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I was like ‘Yeh kya role diya hai?’ He then approached me for Sultan. I didn’t take that up. He was like ‘What more do I offer to you now?’” For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor Khan played the leading lady in the Kabir Khan directorial whereas Anushka Sharma played the female lead in the YRF massy entertainer.

However, she continued to shower her praises on Salman and added that they share a great camaraderie off screen and despite rejecting the films, the superstar continues to share a good bond with her. “Salman is so kind, he keeps talking to me. Even now, for Emergency, he said, ‘I have to see.’ So then he sent our common friend and said, ‘You go and see what kind of a film she has made.’ I showed it to him. He called me and said, ‘It’s a good film.’ I asked, ‘You have received the feedback but you didn’t watch it?’ He said, ‘No.’ That’s how he talks to me,” she added.

Meanwhile, she also mentioned about Ranbir Kapoor pleading her to do a role in Sanju. “Ranbir himself came to my house, and said, ‘Sanju mein role kar le please’. I didn’t do it, but that doesn’t mean…” she shared during the same interaction. The 2018 biographical drama was based on the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and featured Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor in key roles with Ranbir Kapoor as the leading man.
