Karan Johar’s digital wing of Dharma Productions, Dharmatic Entertainment, is expanding its roster with a brand new female-led film for Netflix. The project makers are currently eyeing Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta of Laapataa Ladies to headline the narrative.

While plot details and other specifics are still under wraps, the report in Peeping Moon says that the film is believed to be a progressive relationship drama with comedic undertones. This upcoming project will be helmed by Anubhuti Kashyap, who recently directed Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh in Doctor G. Kashyap’s script will be brought to life by the writing duo of Sima Agarwal and Yash Keshwani, known for their work on films like Anek and Khaali Peeli. Currently in pre-production, filming is expected to begin sometime in September-October 2024.

This collaboration marks a reunion for Kashyap and Dharma Productions. Kashyap was signed on by the banner even before her directorial debut, Doctor G, hit theatres in 2022.  Interestingly, she was previously attached to a romantic comedy for Dharma that starred Ishaan Khatter and Triptii Dimri, but the project ultimately never materialized.

In the meantime, Konkona Sen Sharma will next star in Anurag Basu’s anthology film Metro… In Dino, releasing on November 29. She also has a short film titled Chashma directed by editor Nitin Baid in the pipeline and is reportedly in talks with Junglee Pictures for a thriller project.

Pratibha Ranta, on the other hand, is basking in the success of Laapataa Ladies and has already signed on for a romantic film opposite Vikrant Massey.

Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been released on bail after being allegedly detained by the Dubai police on a criminal defamation complaint filed by his former manager, Salman Ahmad. The unexpected turn of events unfolded last week. According to Geo News, Khan was apprehended upon his arrival in Dubai from Lahore on July 13.

Following a formal complaint lodged by Ahmad’s legal team, the singer was taken into custody and interrogated at the Bur Police Station. While the exact details of the allegations remain undisclosed, it is understood that the case centres on claims of defamation made by Ahmad against Khan.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan vehemently denied the accusations in a video message shared on Instagram yesterday. Dismissing the rumours as “cheap” and unfounded, he assured his fans that everything was in order and that he was in Dubai to record new music. The singer expressed confidence in his eventual return to Pakistan, dismissing the speculations as the work of his enemies.

“I am Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, your Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I came to Dubai to record my songs. Everything is fine….Mai yehi aap see guzaarish karunga ki ghatiya afwahon pe bilkul bhi kaan na dhare (I would like to request you not to pay heed to cheap rumors).Aesa kuchh nahin hai jaisa dushman soch rahe hai. Inshallah may jald hi apne vatan-e-azees mein vapas aaunga. (There is no truth in what the enemies are thinking…I will return to my beloved country soon),” he said in a video message on Instagram.

The legal battle between Khan and Ahmad is far from new. Both parties have a history of filing lawsuits against each other. Khan has a case pending against Ahmad in Pakistan, while Ahmad has pursued legal action against Khan in Dubai and the United States, alleging defamation and contractual breaches.

The much-anticipated film starring Bobby Deol and Nandamuri Balakrishna, tentatively titled NBK109, has been generating buzz since its announcement. Recently, Bobby Deol was snapped at the Mumbai airport. And, Bollywood Hungama has found out the reason for his recent appearance at the Mumbai airport. 

A source close to the production told us that Bobby Deol has left for Jaipur for the NBK109 shoot. Further, the source also confirmed that Nandamuri Balakrishna will also be shooting with Bobby in Jaipur. Following the success of his recent film Animal, Bobby Deol is set to star in NBK109, marking his first collaboration with the Telugu cinema star Nandamuri Balakrishna. Earlier this year, Deol received a grand welcome on the sets, a moment that was widely shared and celebrated on social media.
NBK109: An Action Drama with a Ferocious Avatar
The makers of NBK109 had released a teaser earlier this year, providing a glimpse into the action-packed drama. Balakrishna is set to portray a ferocious character, described in the teaser as a ‘demon’ devoid of ‘pity, mercy, or empathy’ who arrives on Earth to destroy evil forces. The film is based on the concept of “evil kills evil,” promising an intense and engaging experience for the audience.

While the full star cast of NBK109 is yet to be revealed, the film boasts a talented crew. S Thaman has composed the music, Vijay Karthik Kannan is the cinematographer, and Niranjan Devaramane is the film editor. The movie is produced under the banner of Sithara Entertainment and directed by Bobby Kolli.
