Devoleena Bhattacharjee slams Payal Malik over the latter comparing ‘polygamy with interfaith marriage’; actress says, “It’s every Indian’s right to stand against such an illegal act like polygamy”

In a recent turn of events, after Payal Malik retaliated to the comments made by Rakhi Sawant about Armaan Malik and his idea of marriage, she is ready to take on another person who voiced out her opinion on the polygamous relationships of the Maliks – Devoleena Bhattacharjee. Ever since the Maliks entered the Bigg Boss house, the Saath Nibhana Saathiya actress has been open about her dislike towards the promotion of polygamous relationship in a reality show, and now Payal decided to slam the former Bigg Boss contestant. However, not the one to remain silent, Devoleena too has slammed Malik asserting that comparing an interfaith marriage with polygamy is unreal.

What Payal Malik said to Devoleena’s comments on her marriage?

Payal Malik defended her marriage to Armaan Malik as well as the latter’s second marriage with her best friend Kritika and pointed out that just like her, Devoleena Bhattacharjee too got trolled for her marriage because it was interfaith. “Sabse pehle aap yeh dekhiye aap kitne criticise hue hai aapki shaadi ko leke. Jab apne ek Muslim guy se shaadi kari thi toh aapne bhi trolling ka saamna kiya tha. Main yhi kehna chahti hu, jab hum aapke life ke baare mein kuch nahi bol rahe toh aap bhi right nahi rakhte ho hamare relation ke baare mein bolne ke liye. (Firstly, let me remind you how much you were criticized for your marriage. When you got married to a Muslim guy, you too had to bear the brunt of trolls, didn’t you? What I am trying to say is that when we did not comment on your life, you have no right to comment on mine or my relations with anyone)”.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee hits back with another long note

The banter further continued with this ex-Bigg Boss contestant responding to the statement by stating that she cannot compare a polygamous relationship with an interfaith marriage because they are never the same. In her note, she wrote, “A person needs a higher level of knowledge to compare interfaith marriage with POLYGAMY, which I am sure intelligent people are quite aware of. And it’s not only my right, but it’s every Indian’s right to stand against such an illegal act like polygamy, which they are quite proud to flaunt on national television.”

She further continued, “Anyways, it’s a matter of individual fate. Just don’t make a mockery of the lives of those poor women who suffer every day and night because of this nonsense and die a little each day. Otherwise, do whatever you want inside your home. Why stop at two? Have 2, 4, or 5 marriages. Just don’t spread this disease in society. Each & Every word i said i mean it & still stand by it. And anyway it’s not new to me, people making YouTube content on me. Please do the honour.”

“Also, even if my husband is muslim he is too loyal to his wife neither he is interested in POLYGAMY and we took 4 years to understand & then got married. Not in merely 7 days. Also in both the cases. Also, a women self-respect shouldn’t be compromised. But I can feel you. I know you can’t understand this. Honestly i feel pity of you. But then I guess that’s how you wanted your marriage to be after seeing this. Everything could be a Youtube content for you guys. But not me. So, carry on,” she concluded.

EXCLUSIVE: Nawazuddin Siddiqui signs Rautu Ka Raaz director’s next; Anand Surapar reveals “It’s about the paris and chudails in Uttarakhand”

The recently-released film Rautu Ka Raaz has received acclaim for its quirk, performances and setting. The title is such because it is set in a place called Rautu Ki Beli. Interestingly, director Anand Surapur’s earlier film The Fakir Of Venice (2019), which marked Farhan Akhtar’s acting debut before Rock On (2008), also mentioned a place in its title. Bollywood Hungama, in an exclusive interview, asked Anand about this aspect, his upcoming film and a lot more.

When asked if it was intentional to have names of towns or cities in his film titles, Anand Surapur laughed and replied, “It was not intentional. I got the idea for this film before The Fakir Of Venice. The title ‘The Fakir Of Venice’ was apt as it’s about a fakir and is set in Venice. Rautu Ka Raaz was originally titled Love Is Blind. But during the shoot, we realized that the title gives away an important plot point of the film (laughs). Also, initially, my idea was to shoot the film with a blind character’s perspective.”

Anand continued, “This is why we decided to name the film after the village Rautu Ki Beli, where the film was also shot. However, the producers (Zee Studios) reasoned that the title does not signify the mystery element of the film. This is how we finalized the title Rautu Ka Raaz.”

Anand Surapar is happy with the feedback, “The response has been very good according to Zee. The reviews were 70% positive. And I don’t mind because nobody can make a film that everybody loves! You can’t please everyone on this planet.”

Anand Surapur shared some fascinating trivia about the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer, “Initially, we had set the film in a blind school in Mumbai. However, the school didn’t give us permission to shoot as it would have made life difficult for the students. So, we started looking for alternatives. I went to Uttarakhand and I fell in love with the location. It also had a blind school nearby. We then decided to change the film’s setting. Thankfully, it was also an apt decision because a city-based thriller would have been very different.”

Admitting that he and his team “got lucky with the casting”, Anand Surapur further said, “We got blind students from Mumbai and also from a famous government blind school in Dehradun. We also thought of shooting there but again, it was located in Dehradun city. Then we decided to shift to Rautu Ka Beli, located an hour and a half away from Dehradun.”

He revealed, “It’s quite peaceful and relaxing to shoot in Uttarakhand. We shot there in a normal, government school, that too in the holidays. The bathrooms and the steps were not in good condition. We did the repairs and even gave a fresh paint to the school.”

When asked how many days it took him to film, Anand Surapur made a surprise revelation, “We shot the film in 25 days. I even shot The Fakir Of Venice in 23 days. I shoot very fast. I am a producer’s dream (laughs)!”

The director has already started work on his next. He said, “After Rautu Ka Raaz was well-received, Nawaz bhai called me up and told me, ‘Let’s do the other film as well, the mystery one set in Uttarakhand’ (the director had narrated the idea to the actor earlier). He has even given us dates to shoot in December.”

When asked for details, he replied, “It’s about the paris and chudails in Uttarakhand. The state has many ghost stories. It’s believed that if you go to Pari Tibba in Mussoorie and if the fairy likes you, she’ll take you away. In fact, many youngsters hang out there for this reason (laughs)!”

Anand Surapuar, however, also said that he has two scripts in hand, “There’s also a murder mystery. We are figuring out which one to make. But the pari one seems more interesting.”

The fairy-witch tale, in his opinion, will appeal to the audience as it is novel. He explained, “It’s difficult to differentiate one content from another (in this genre). People also get bored of it after a point. Once in a while, if you make something unique, it will work. It’s a clutter-breaking thing actually.”

He added, “I did music videos like ‘Bulla Ki Jana’ with Rabbi Shergill and ‘Teri Deewani’ with Kailash Kher. So, I have always focused on things that people can relate to and which are also clutter-breaking.”

Rautu Ka Raaz was released directly on Zee5. Will his next film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui be released in theatres? Anand Surapar smiled as he said, “It’s every director and producer’s dream to release the film in theatres. We also wanted to release Rautu Ka Raaz on the big screen. However, considering the market and mood, we opted for a direct-to-OTT release. Once the film is made, we’ll take a call.”

Vikrant Massey-starrer The Sabarmati Report postponed; won’t clash with Ajay Devgn-starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha on August 2

Vikrant Massey’s popularity got a boost with the surprise success of 12th Fail (2023). Hence, his next theatrical release, The Sabarmati Report, is much awaited. The film was all set to release on May 3 but it was postponed to August 2. It now seems that Vikrant’s fans and admirers will have to wait a little longer. As per sources, The Sabarmati Report has been further pushed.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers are looking at a new release date. The film is now expected to release in September or October 2024. The makers will announce the new release date in a week or two. The exhibitors, too, would be informed about The Sabarmati Report’s postponement.”

A few days ago, Bollywood Hungama broke the news that Ajay Devgn-starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which was all set to release on July 5, has been pushed ahead and would now arrive in cinemas on August 2. It would have led to a three-way clash on the first Friday of August as Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Ulajh is also scheduled for a release in theatres on August 2.

Besides Vikrant Massey, The Sabarmati Report also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra. It is a political thriller about two reporters investigating the burning of the Sabarmati Express at Godhra on February 27, 2002. It is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan and directed by Ranjan Chandel.

In April 2024, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that The Sabarmati Report won’t be able to make it in cinemas on May 3. A source told us, “The Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) Examining Committee saw the film and had objections to certain scenes. Also, fearing that it might violate the model code of conduct as laid down by the Election Commission of India, it has been advised that it should be released after the last phase of elections, which will take place on June 1.”

SCOOP: Srikanth director Tushar Hiranandani reshoots certain portions of Vikrant Massey-starrer The Sabarmati Report

SCOOP: Srikanth director Tushar Hiranandani reshoots certain portions of Vikrant Massey-starrer The Sabarmati Report

The month of May brought some relief to the exhibitors thanks to the Rajkummar Rao-starrer Srikanth. It was one of the few major releases of the month and did exceptionally well in cinemas. It also made its director Tushar Hiranandani someone to watch out for. It has now come to light that Tushar has already moved on to his next project. As per a source, he is reshooting certain portions of the Vikrant Massey-starrer The Sabarmati Report.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The film is not going for a massive reshoot. The producers felt that some scenes could come out strongly and also, they thought of roping in Tushar Hiranandani for the reshoot. The actors, too, readily came on board.”

In April 2024, Bollywood Hungama reported that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had expressed reservations that certain moments in the film could hurt the sentiments of a section of the moviegoers and hence, the makers had toyed with the idea of reshooting the film. The source, however, has no information on whether the film is being reshot for this reason or some other factor.

Back then, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that The Sabarmati Report wouldn’t be able to make it in cinemas on May 3. This was a time when the Lok Sabha Elections were going on and besides objections to some scenes, the CBFC also feared that it might violate the model code of conduct as laid down by the Election Commission of India.
