Sunny Deol announced his big project, an untitled film, currently referred to as SDGM. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film is already generating considerable buzz. Alongside Deol, the movie will feature Saiyami Kher as the leading lady and Regina Cassandra in a pivotal role. In a new reveal, it has been confirmed that the film’s official title is Jatt.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, the title, derived from the script, highlights Sunny Deol’s character traits, embodying the essence of a Jatt—a term synonymous with strength and heroism. Deol’s character in the film is described as larger-than-life, with the actor donning a special look featuring a light beard and moustache to match the powerful persona. A source close to the development shared, “The team has chosen the title Jatt to reflect the aura of Sunny’s character. It’s a heroic role that aligns perfectly with Sunny Deol’s on-screen image.” The film is slated for a marathon shooting schedule, expected to wrap up by early September.

Gopichand Malineni, best known for his directorial ventures like Bodyguard and Veera Simha Reddy, is set to helm this ambitious project. Malineni, currently busy with his film featuring Ravi Teja, will be collaborating with Sunny Deol for the first time. Composer S Thaman will be scoring the film. Rishi Punjabi will bring his visual storytelling expertise as the cinematographer, while Avinash Kolla will take charge as the art director. The film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with People Media Factory.

In addition to SDGM, Sunny Deol is currently working on Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. This film also stars Preity Zinta and Deol’s son, Karan Deol, among others. Deol recently announced Border 2, the sequel to the blockbuster drama Border, which will be directed by JP Dutta.

Moreover, Sunny Deol is gearing up for his role as Hanuman in the highly anticipated Ramayana and is in discussions for a project with director Abbas Mustan, rumoured to be an action thriller. “Sunny is expected to wrap up shooting for Jatt by early September and will then switch gears to Ramayana and Border 2. Cast opens up about the web-series

Gurmeet Choudhary, who plays the role of Commander Karan Saxena said, “Commander Karan Saxena is incredibly special to me. I deeply admire all the officers who wholeheartedly serve our nation. Portraying a character inspired by these heroes is a tremendous honor for me. Karan, my character embodies dedication, hard work, and courage-qualities I’ve always aspired to embody myself and bringing him to life on screen has only strengthened these traits within me. He is someone I have always wanted to be. Now that the trailer is out, I’m excited for audiences to see what’s in store. There’s so much more to come on Disney+ Hotstar, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”

Talking about the series, Iqbal Khan, who plays ISI Chief Nasir said, “This is one of the most menacing yet charming characters I’ve played. Nasir is bold, aggressive and is driven by wholehearted passion and unwavering faith. Through Nasir, I’ve had the opportunity to explore character traits completely different from who I am in real life, it was a challenging experience. Jatin, my director, ensured that my character is both real and larger-than-life and it’s a tough task which he did absolute justice to. I hope the viewers on Disney+ Hotstar can see all the hard work we’ve put in and enjoy the series. It’s sure to stimulate the minds of the audience.”

Hruta Durgule said, “The story of Commander Karan Saxena and my character, Rachana has been an inspiration in some ways for me. She is a strong-willed, powerful woman immersed in a world of crime and violence, undeterred by any obstacle. As a female police officer, she not only stands her ground but fights with an unexpected ferocity, in a male dominated profession. When I first read the script, I was immediately drawn to her character – it was as if she awakened a fierce part of me that I didn’t know existed. I can’t wait for audiences on Disney+ Hotstar to awaken that ferocity in them too with this series very soon!”

Commander Karan Saxena releases on July 8, 2024. It’ll be available to watch for free on the Disney+ Hotstar’s mobile app with new episodes releasing Monday to Friday.

Madhuri Dixit under fire for alleged collaboration with blacklisted Pakistani promoter

Madhuri Dixit under fire for alleged collaboration with blacklisted Pakistani promoter

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene is under fire for her collaboration with Rehan Siddiqi, a Houston-based promoter of Pakistani origin who has been blacklisted by the Indian government due to alleged links with the ISI. The controversy erupted on Friday, June 28, when columnist and political commentator Sunanda Vashisth highlighted the issue on social media.

Madhuri Dixit’s Controversial Collaboration
Sunanda Vashisth shared a poster of the upcoming event featuring Madhuri Dixit and Rehan Siddiqi, scheduled for August 2024 in Houston, Texas, just a day after India’s Independence Day. Vashisth took to Twitter, urging Madhuri to reconsider her participation in the event due to Siddiqi’s alleged connections and blacklisted status.
Government Concerns and Public Outcry
Vashisth’s tweet included a letter from four years ago by BJP Minister Kishan Reddy, then MoS Home Affairs, which explicitly stated that Rehan Siddiqi was blacklisted by the Indian government. In her post, Vashisth expressed her shock and disappointment:

“Shocked to see @MadhuriDixit collaborate with a Pakistani origin promoter who has been on the radar of Indian agencies and has been blacklisted by Govt of India. Minister @kishanreddybjp as MoS Home had publicly announced that Houston based Pakistani origin promoter, Rehan Siddiqi has been blacklisted and had requested Bollywood celebrities to not work with him,” she said in her post.
Appeal to Madhuri Dixit
Vashisth further appealed to Madhuri Dixit’s friends, family, and fans to inform her about Siddiqi’s background and persuade her to cancel the collaboration. She stated the disheartening impact such associations have on India’s security forces and those who have sacrificed their lives for the country’s safety. The actress is yet to comment on the same.

Here is the letter by Minister @kishanreddybjp who was then MoS Home. I am not sure why @MadhuriDixit has chosen to work with this individual who has worked against Indian interests. I hope she can cancel this collaboration as soon as possible. pic.twitter.com/yyOeClE0yw

This incident follows another recent controversy involving Madhuri Dixit. Last month, the actress faced backlash after posting, and subsequently deleting, a message condemning Israel’s missile strike on Rafah.

On the professional front, Madhuri Dixit recently produced the Marathi film Panchak, starring Addinath Kothare, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Bharti Achrekar, and others earlier this year. She is currently involved in the shooting of Dance Deewane 3 and is yet to announce her upcoming projects.
