Kubbra Sait to play a cop alongside Shahid Kapoor in Deva

Kubbra Sait is set to appear as a police officer in the upcoming action thriller Deva, starring Shahid Kapoor. In a recent interview, she shared insights about her role, experience of working with Kapoor, and her journey in the entertainment industry, which spans over two decades.

Exciting role in Deva

While speaking to Hindustan Times, Kubbra Sait revealed her excitement about her character in Deva. “I play a police officer and I am really excited about the action I am getting to do. I am currently shooting for it and having a lot of fun. I am getting to see Mumbai like I have never seen before. I am getting to see the heat, the rain, the live locations, and it’s a high-intensity physical shoot,” she explained.

Working with Shahid Kapoor

Sait praised her co-star Shahid Kapoor, highlighting his talent and dedication. “In Farzi, Shahid and I didn’t have any scene together. This is the first time I am getting to work with him. He has a process that I watch from a distance. One thing I can undoubtedly say is that he is one of the most talented actors we have in our industry,” she said. She recalled their first meeting during a hosting gig for the movie Ishq Vishk in 2003 when she was just a teenager.

Celebrating 20 Years in hosting

Marking two decades in the hosting profession, Sait reflected on her early days. “I remember starting out 20 years ago in Bangalore and my first gig was on a truck, where I was announcing that (actor) Shah Rukh Khan’s show Temptation is happening in Bangalore,” she shared. She finds hosting appealing due to the “instant gratification” it offers.

Challenges and changes in hosting

Sait acknowledged the shift in the hosting industry, where popularity often trumps experience. She recounted an instance when she was replaced by a more popular name at the last minute. “My first gig ever in Mumbai, I had prepared everything and asked the event organizers to pick me up at 4 pm, but no one came till 4:30 pm. When I called them, they said, ‘We had to replace you. We wanted a known face.’ I have lost gigs for not being known enough,” she admitted. However, since gaining fame as an actor, she noted that she now enjoys a greater level of freedom and expression in her work.

Kubbra Sait’s journey in the entertainment industry showcases her versatility and resilience, and her role in Deva is eagerly anticipated by fans and audiences alike.

Shatrughan Sinha REACTS to protests, trolling against Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s marriage: “My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional”

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are officially husband and wife! The loved-up couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony surrounded by close family and friends, followed by a dazzling reception that radiated love and joy on June 23. However, the wedding has received ire from a certain fringe Hindu group in Patna, the Hindu Shivbhavani Sena that has labelled the marriage as “love jihad,” a term used to demonize interfaith relationships, specifically Hindu women marrying Muslim men.

This hateful rhetoric has manifested in the form of posters across Patna threatening Sonakshi and even targeting her father, veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha. The posters allege the marriage is part of a conspiracy to “Islamify” India and demand that Shatrughan change the names of his palatial Mumbai residence, “Ramayana,” and his sons, Luv and Kush, claiming these names disrespect Hinduism.

Shatrughan Sinha has responded defiantly to this outpouring of hate. Refusing to be cowed, he called the protestors “unemployed people” who should “get a life”. In an interview with Times Now, Sinha said, “Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional.”

He added, “A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful with your life. Aur kuch nahi kehna (I have nothing else to say)”.

Sonakshi and Zaheer have chosen to avoid the negativity. After sharing photos of their civil ceremony and reception pictures, they disabled comments on their Instagram posts to shield themselves from online trolls.
