With Bigg Boss OTT 3 nearing its release, the makers have unveiled the first major update about this upcoming season. After teasing fans with hints about the host, the platform has now made it official in a collaborative post on their Instagram handle that veteran Bollywood star Anil Kapoor will be leading the show this year. Interestingly, this entertaining star will be turning host for this reality show for the first time. While the first season saw filmmaker-producer Karan Johar as the anchor, the last season had Salman Khan, who also hosts Bigg Boss (Television) leading the contestants.

JioCinema took to social media to share this announcement and posted a photo of Anil Kapoor taking over the throne as the host of Bigg Boss OTT Season 3. They captioned it saying, “Presenting ‘Anil Kapoor’ as the new host for Bigg Boss OTT 3” and also added, “From reigning on the big screen to now ruling the Bigg Boss house, Anil Kapoor is kuch extra khaas! Witness his magic in #BiggBossOTT3 starting 21 June, exclusively on JioCinema Premium.”

Commenting on being the host of Bigg Boss OTT 3 and sharing his excitement, Anil Kapoor said, “Bigg Boss OTT and I are a dream team! We’re both young at heart; people often say – jokingly – that I’m reverse ageing, but Bigg Boss is – seriously- timeless. It feels a bit like going back to school, trying something new and exciting. Having said that, I’ve always approached all my projects with sincerity and a commitment to hard work and I’m going to bring that same energy (times 10!) to Bigg Boss! Unscripted reality has something for everyone – laughter, drama, and surprising twists, and I can’t wait to bring my own flavour to it!

BREAKING: After Home Ministry nod, Shah Rukh Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation gets FCRA license; will now be able to receive foreign grants

Shah Rukh Khan is not just a superstar but off-screen, he has made the lives of many women better through his non-governmental organization (NGO), Meer Foundation. The NGO has got a big boost as it has been granted the Foreign Contribution Registration Act (FCRA) licence by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for five years, as per a report in The Economic Times.

This means that the Meer Foundation will now be able to receive foreign grants. Those who hold the Overseas Citizen of India can also send aid to the foundation. However, Non-resident Indians (NRIs), who still hold an Indian passport, are not applicable under this license.

Meer Foundation, which works for acid attack survivors and was started by Shah Rukh Khan in 2013, was granted this license on May 31, 2024. The Economic Times report further stated that as per the MHA guidelines, an NGO can apply for an FCRA license with definite purposes such as cultural, economic, educational, religious or social programmes.

During the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, in April 2020, Meer Foundation helped turn Shah Rukh Khan’s Khar office into a quarantine centre for asymptomatic patients. Later, it was turned into an ICU for critical patients. Meer Foundation looked after the day-night security, housekeeping, waterproofing and upkeep of the beds and meals at this centre.

The same month, the NGO announced that it would work closely with Ek Saath – The Earth Foundation and the Roti Foundation to meet the daily food requirements of over 5,500 families for at least a month, set up a live kitchen to send out 2,000 freshly-cooked meals to hospitals and households in need and provide 3,00,000 meal kits to the underprivileged and daily wage workers in Maharashtra. According to the statement, the team had also identified 2,500 daily wage workers in Delhi and provided them with basic essentials and grocery items for a month. In 2018, Shah Rukh Khan through the Meer Foundation also donated 50 wheelchairs on International Day of Persons With Disability.

On the film front, Shah Rukh Khan had a rocking 2023 as he delivered two blockbusters – Pathaan and Jawan – and a hit film, Dunki. He would be next seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s King, co-starring Suhana Khan.

Now, Alia is set to enter the universe with a standalone project.

According to Mid-day, Bhatt is prepping for an action-heavy role, portraying a super soldier in the film. To embody this formidable character, she has embarked on a rigorous two-month training program with specialists.
