Heeramandi’s Taha Shah Badussha opens up about his struggling period: “If you are not desperate in life, you will not get anything”

Taha Shah Badussha, known for his role as Tajdar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, recounted the arduous journey he endured before his breakthrough role. Reflecting on his 14-year stint in the film industry, Taha confessed, “I have been in the film industry for 14 years and I got nothing.” Despite years of perseverance, Taha struggled to gain traction, with casting directors consistently ignoring his calls for six long years.

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, the actor candidly admitted to resorting to unconventional methods to forge connections in Bollywood, including attending parties and incessantly cold-calling industry professionals. “I have tried to call casting directors and for six years they didn’t pick up my calls,” Taha revealed, shedding light on the relentless pursuit of opportunities that characterized his journey. Describing his unwavering determination, Taha emphasized the necessity of desperation in achieving success, stating, “You should be desperate. If you are not desperate in life, you will not get anything, and I am a live example of the same.”

Taha’s path to success was fraught with financial struggles and deception, as he recalled paying exorbitant fees for auditions and falling victim to scams. “Before I got Yash Raj, I used to go for eight auditions a day. Many times, I used to give money for auditions, something around Rs 4000-10,000. I even got scammed 3-4 times when they would take money from me and the whole office would disappear the next day,” he revealed. Despite facing rejections due to his striking appearance, Taha’s resilience ultimately led him to his breakthrough role in Heeramandi, marking a turning point in his career after years of perseverance in the face of adversity.
