Last month, Bollywood Hungama reported that the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has changed the title of Hum Do Humara Baarah to Humaare Baraah. Now, the makers of the movie have confirmed the news in a latest official announcement. The film stars veteran actor Annu Kapoor and popular television actor Parth Samthaan, who is making his film debut.

The makers have also revealed that the movie will release on the big screen on June 7. To mark the announcement, the film’s new poster has been released, giving audiences a sneak peek at what to expect.

Humare Baarah is directed by Kamal Chandra and produced by Radhika G Film & Newtech Media Entertainment, Ravi S. Gupta, Birender Bhagat, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh. The film is co-produced by Triloki Prasad. It also features Ashwini Kalsekar, Rahul Bagga, Paritosh Tiwari, Manoj Joshi, debutant Aditi Bhatpahri and others in prominent roles.

Elated about the film, versatile actor Annu Kapoor, who plays the main lead, said, “Working on Humare Baraah has been an incredible journey for me. The film delves into some complex and sensitive topics, and I believe the new title aligns better with our storytelling. I’m excited for audiences to experience the heart and soul of this project on June 7th.”

Talking more about the film, producers Ravi S. Gupta and Birender Bhagat said in a joint statement, “Producing Humare Baarah has been a privilege. All the teams have worked tirelessly to bring this story to life, and I’m thrilled to finally share the film with audiences after so many hurdles. The new title reflects the essence of the movie, and I believe it will resonate with viewers. This film will highlight the most important and crucial problem of our country and we hope that our film is an eye opener for the audience.”

The film’s poster sets the tone for the anticipated release. Humare Baarah is released by Viacom18 Studios on June 7.

The Salman Khan house firing case has taken a new turn as the family of Anuj Thapan, one of the accused who died in police custody, has approached the Bombay High Court. Thapan’s family alleges custodial torture and murder and is seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into his death.

Family Disputes Police Version of Events

According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, Thapan’s mother, Rita Devi, filed a petition in the High Court on Friday, May 3. The petition disputes the police claim that Thapan committed suicide in the lock-up. Devi alleges foul play and claims her son was killed. The petition requests the High Court to direct a CBI investigation into Thapan’s death. It further alleges that Thapan was physically assaulted and tortured by police while in custody.

The petition also seeks several pieces of evidence from the police, which includes CCTV footage of the police station and lock-up where Thapan was held, Call Data Records (CDR) of police officials involved in the firing incident investigation (from April 24 to May 2), and a fresh post-mortem examination of Thapan’s body.

Background of the Case

Four individuals, including Thapan, were arrested in connection with the firing incident at Salman Khan’s residence on April 14. The other arrested individuals are Sonu Bishnoi, and alleged shooters Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi remain wanted in the case.

Thapan was arrested on April 26 from Punjab on charges of supplying firearms and ammunition for the firing. He was remanded to police custody until April 30. The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) was invoked in the case by the police. On April 29, all four accused, including Thapan, were produced before a special court and remanded to police custody until May 8th. However, Thapan was found dead in the lock-up toilet on May 1.

The High Court is yet to schedule a hearing on the petition.

Amidst anticipation for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, filmmaker Abhishek Singh is also all set to helm the adaptation of the Hindu epic. For the unversed, Abhishek Singh’s film, titled Shri Ramayan Katha, will feature Lock Upp fame and influencer Anjali Arora as Goddess Sita. Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari’s film will be headlined by Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, playing the lead. 

Speaking of securing the role of Sita in Abhishek Singh’s next film, Anjali Arora expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity. In an interview with ETimes, Anjali asserted, “I believe they saw something in me that convinced them I could do justice to the character. I was finalised last month, and since then, I have been watching videos, doing readings, and attending workshops. I will give my best to do justice to the character.”

Anjali also revealed initial uncertainties, acknowledging the competitive nature of the audition process. Despite the daunting prospect of vying against numerous actors, Anjali’s earnest commitment to the character won over the filmmakers, earning her the coveted role.

Since her confirmation last month, Anjali has immersed herself in meticulous preparation, delving into research through videos and workshops to ensure an authentic portrayal of Sita. Embracing the inevitable comparisons to Sai Pallavi’s interpretation, she welcomes the opportunity to be evaluated alongside an accomplished actress, stating, “If I am compared to a Bollywood actress, I will be happy.”

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that the official announcement of Shri Ramayan Katha has not been made. Meanwhile, a bunch of pictures from the sets of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana were leaked online including Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Ranbir Kapoor, and Sai Pallavi. However, Nitesh Tiwari is yet to officially announce the film.

Veteran actress Manisha Koirala, who shines in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest Netflix venture, Heeramandi: The Diamong Bazaar, received heartfelt accolades from none other than the legendary Rekha.

In a conversation with Filmygyan, Koirala unveiled Rekha’s emotional reaction to her performance, sharing, “She was telling me that 18-20 years ago, she was offered this role.” Moved by Rekha’s endorsement, Koirala recounted, “Bachcha, I was praying that if I don’t do this role, you should do it. My prayers have come true. You have done it marvellously; you have gone through so much in life and you have brought life to the character.”

Rekha’s admiration didn’t just leave a mark on Koirala; it reverberated through the industry as well. Set to be the first Hindi Cinema franchise with a fifth installment, Housefull 5 is slated to release on June 6, 2025.

Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is a familiar face at Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, cheering on his team. Recently, rumours were rife suggesting he’d attend the KKR vs. Lucknow Super Giants match in Lucknow. However, the Lucknow police swiftly debunked this speculation through social media.

This buzz coincided with KKR’s crucial match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Fans were no doubt excited at the prospect of seeing their favourite actor and team owner in the stands.

The Lucknow police, anticipating potential crowd control issues and misinformation, took a proactive approach. They tweeted a clear message in Hindi, “It is being reported in some social media/media that Shahrukh Khan is coming to support KKR team in today’s IPL match. No such information has been received in this regard yet. Unnecessary rumours should not be spread otherwise strict action will be taken against those who spread rumours.”

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. He will be starring in Sujoy Ghosh’s next King with Suhana Khan. He recently confirmed that he plans to kick off the shoot by June or July of this year.

Bollywood director Karan Johar slammed a comedian’s recent impersonation of him, calling it “poor taste.” Johar, known for directing films like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, took to social media on Sunday to express his disappointment. While he refrained from naming the comedian, Johar criticized the industry’s tendency for self-deprecating humour, suggesting it undermines its members.

On May 5, Karan Johar took to Instagram to express his disappointment. He wrote, “I was sitting and watching television with my mom… and saw a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly respectable channel . a comic was mimicking me in exceptionally poor taste…”

Explaining his sentiments further, he said, “I expect this from trolls and faceless and nameless people but when your own industry can disrespect someone who has been in the business for over 25 years it speaks volumes about the times we live in… this doesn’t even anger me it just makes me sad!”

Meanwhile, Karan Johar has an array of productions in the pipeline including Mr & Mrs Mahi, Kill, and Jigra to name a few.
